Descrizione

The cut was made up of a series of defensive positions which starting from an altitude of 170 meters reached the level of the lake; its purpose was to block the road to those coming down from the Ledro valley. Initially it was just a partially uncovered fort armed with some cannons. The structure developed over the years until it became a complex of works distributed over five levels for a development in rock of approximately one kilometre. Everything was connected to the “Defensionmauer”, the defense wall built in Sperone against possible attacks by the Italian infantry and armed with machine guns. In the years 1913-1914, the cutting complex was radically renovated partly in concrete with armor and partly in rock to make it suitable to resist the effects of modern artillery.
