The church of San Giorgio is located in the hamlet of San Giorgio in the municipality of Arco. Church dating back to the  12th century.

History

The church is mentioned for the first time in 1144. A place of worship dedicated to San Giorgio is mentioned in the disappeared town of Passirone, later a hamlet of San Giorgio di Arco. This place of worship is mentioned again in 1488. Towards the middle of the 17th century the small church was radically rebuilt and enlarged. It was blessed while the construction site was still open, in 1852. In 1909 the bishop of Trento Celestino Endrici consecrates it with a solemn ceremony. Four years later, in 1913, the interior of the church of San Giorgio was modified by enlarging the room with the moving back of the main altar and the elimination of the choir.  In 1919, authorization was given to celebrate weddings. During the Second World War it was requisitioned by German troops and used for military purposes. Once the war is over it is restored and given back to the community.
