Descrizione

What is now a passage and takes the name of Saint Joseph from the church dedicated to him, is one of the oldest religious buildings in the city. Of the church, mentioned in 1275 as a building inhabited by a hermit, Today we read the enlargement made in the eighteenth century and visible on the outside in the facade with classic shapes and inside with marble columns and a ceiling fresco by Bartolomeo Zeni. In reality the ancient layout of the church had a different configuration. A description of 1671 spoke of a large sacristy, two naves, four altars and a choir with stalls for the brothers of the discipline. There was attached the hospital run by members of the brotherhood of Battuti, or Disciplini.
