Descrizione
The church of Santa Maria Maddalena is located on Rocchetta, the mountain overlooking Riva del Garda. It is a small church built in the thirteenth century in Romanesque style and, despite the many renovations suffered over the centuries, still retains some original elements such as the stone facade and the decorations with round arches.
The building is very old. It was equipped with the relics of Saint Eusebius, one of the founders of Western monasticism. After it was left in a state of decay in the fifteenth century, from the seventeenth century it was inhabited by hermits who cared for it and remained there until the nineteenth century. The interior of the church is quite well preserved, with a single hall and an altar of the eighteenth century. It is not open.
You can reach the church with a beautiful path in the woods.
