Descrizione
The church of the Addolorata is the parish church of Bolognano, a hamlet of Arco. It was built in the early twentieth century, between 1903 and 1907. The project is by the German architect Moritz von Horstig who was at that time in Arco for a period of treatment. The design of the church of Our Lady of Sorrows is the same as the work done by the architect in Olching, the Santi Pietro and Paolo church. Church built in 1901. The church was blessed on April 28, 1909.
In 1913 the churchyard was enlarged. After the First World War between 1927 and 1937 the church underwent major renovations both inside and outside.
In 1942, the 24 May becomes parish church.
Outside
The orientation of the building is towards the east and has a monumental facade, with the central part a hut with two pitches and with salients that correspond to the two side naves. The portal is splayed, in a frame that ends with a round arch. Above is a large rose window and on the sides of the central part four empty niches, with splayed frame.
Interiors
The interior of the church is divided into three naves separate granite columns that support the arches. The room is illuminated by four rows of seven single-lancet windows placed on the walls of the side aisles and on the upper part of the central nave. The presbytery, slightly raised, is accessed through two large arches of decreasing size. In the counter-façade there is the choir, also supported by columns and pillars. The Venetian flooring shows in some parts different decorative motifs.
