The exterior of the Chapel of San Rocco is characterized by an emerging plinth and the only portal with rectangular light. The portal is surmounted by a plaque with the date of erection and blessing. On the south side of the roof there is a bell tower with a round arch profile. Inside the walls are covered in marble. The back wall is decorated with a bas-relief in painted terracotta by the Tuscan Ferdinando Cian.

History of the Chapel of San Rocco

Between 1893 and 1894 the inhabitants of the Grotto built the chapel and dedicated it to San Rocco. San Rocco protector of the afflicted. They dedicated it to San Rocco thus dissolving a vow made on the occasion of the cholera epidemic that struck Arco in 1836. The small building stands on land donated by Vincenzo de Lutti. The project is by Sigismondo Boschetti, master mason of Riva del Garda. In 1894 the chapel was blessed by the archpriest of Arco. During World War I, the chapel was damaged by shrapnel and nearby bombs. In the 70s some works were made as well as a new renovation in 2002.
