Descrizione

The first stone of the present church – a beautiful example of late Renaissance architecture dates back to 1613, most likely on the site of an earlier place of worship. The church, in fact, was curated by the Brotherhood of SS. Trinity that had risen towards the end of 1400. At the same time dates the wooden group depicting the SS. Trinity placed on the high altar.

Inside you can admire two precious 17th century wooden altars, one of which is surmounted by the coat of arms of the Counts Tonelli. The adjoining building, whose current form dates back to the 18th century, during its life was gradually home to a “hospitable”, the public school (established in 1774), the mountain of piety and also the prison of the Pénede Jurisdiction (judicial district that included our two countries and that for centuries, with interruptions, was ruled by the counts of Arco, feudal lords of the Emperor of Austria).

In 1782 the Brotherhood of the SS. Trinity, considered a useless and unproductive entity, like hundreds of other similar religious confraternities, was dissolved by order of the Emperor Joseph II and his assets auctioned off. Damaged during the First World War by Italian artillery, it was restored in 1924.
