The church of the Immaculate Conception is located in Tenno in the upper part of the town of Gardula on a small square. The first news of the church are from 1204 when it is mentioned in general. Around 1535 the bell tower was erected and in 1594 the apse area where the cemetery was located was enlarged.  In 1686 a part of the church was rebuilt and in 1711 the bell tower was elevated. The church of the Immaculate Conception was enlarged again between 1881 and 1882 according to the project of the architect Ignazio Liberi. At the end of the works the church is decorated with stucco in the Rococo style. In 1937 the walls of the presbytery are painted by Giuseppe Tarter.

Description

The Church of the Immaculate Conception is located in the upper part of the residential area of Gardula that together with Veduto and Frapporta form the village of Tenno. The church is facing south. The tripartite façade is classical and is located close to a high retaining wall that surrounds a few meters away even the entire western side. In the western facade stands the bell tower with an onion cover. On the main portal of the facade is carved the coat of arms of the cardinal Adriano Castellesi.

This marble plaque recalls the works he carried out in the early sixteenth century. In ancient times the church of the Immaculate was referred to as the Ca del Cardinal.
Inside the church there are three naves separated by pillars. Each nave is divided into bays. In the central bays of the side aisles there are circular windows. The central part ends with a raised presbytery on some steps, with a semicircular apse. From the eastern wall of the presbytery is accessed through a suspended passage to the nearby rectory. The floor is made of stone slabs and orthogonal monochrome tiles.
