Descrizione
The church of Inviolata, or also called Santa Maria Inviolata built in 1603 in Riva del Garda. Consecrated in 1636 to contain an image of the Madonna considered miraculous, on the initiative of Giannangelo Gaudenzio Madruzzo and of his wife Alfonsina Gonzaga.
The church, in Baroque style, is on the outside square, on the inside octagonal with five altars, three doors, vaulted area with frescoes and stuccoes, confessionals of carved wood and marble floors.
The painting behind the high altar houses the image of the miraculous Madonna. In the choir there are paintings by the school of Domenico Brusasorci and elegant stalls carved with scenes from the Bible. The altarpieces are by Palma il Giovane. The wall paintings, oil, are by Pietro Ricchi said the Lucchese, those of the dome are attributed to Theophilus Polish. The white, black and golden stuccoes are the work of Davide Reti (1609), whose signature is on the right entering through the main door.
In 1609-11 she was joined by a convent of Gerolimini ( poor hermits of San Girolamo ) In 1682 the bell tower was erected; the convent was entrusted to the friars minor in 1817, then to the Daughters of the Sacred Heart in 1877, and is now owned by the municipality of Riva del Garda.
