Descrizione

The church of San Michele Arcangelo is the parish church in Varignano, a hamlet of Arco.

The church was built around 1386. From findings found it is easy that previously on the same site there was another of earlier times.

In the 16th century the building was enlarged. The church was consecrated in 1586. During the following century, in the seventeenth century it was the subject of restoration works. The nave is repainted and the walls are arranged.

In the 20th century, the church of San Michele Arcangelo underwent a major renovation. It is almost completely demolished and is rebuilt on a larger scale. Only the bell tower and the northern part are saved from reconstruction. The church was blessed in 1923. In the second half of the century it became a parish.
