Descrizione
Valletta di Santa Lucia is one of the beautiful walks that can be done in our territory. The itinerary starts from Torbole and ends in Nago, at the foot of Castel Penede. It goes up a small valley, on a paved ground, surrounded by olive trees with a beautiful view of Lake Garda. A capital dedicated to the saint of Syracuse gives its name to the valley. The road was the only way of communication between the Adige valley and Lake Garda.
A bit of history
The story tells that in 1439 during the war with the Visconti, in this valley passed the Venetians who carried with oxen, carts and force of arms a fleet of 25 boats and 6 galleys. Fleet that from the Adriatic Sea went up the river Adige to the river port of Ravazzone, then Lake Loppio and then down through the valley of Santa Lucia to Lake Garda.
The Venetians managed to defeat in the waters of Lake Garda, in front of the Ponale, the Milanese fleet and capture Riva del Garda on May 5, 1440. As you climb you are immersed in olive trees and if you look south you will have a different view of the lake.
