Laghel is located west of Arco. It is located under Monte Colodri. Laghel can be reached on foot or by car. To climb on foot there are two possibilities, starting from the center of Arco. The first solution is to walk along Via Fossa Grande. The main road to Laghel and the castle. The other solution is to follow the characteristic Via Stranfora, right under the cliff of the castle. Via Stranfora emerges from its door and you find yourself in via Fossa Grande. Walk along the entrance of the Archducal Park and then keep right following the signs for the castle. As you climb to the right you see the area west of the castle of Arco. A few minutes walk and you get to the olive grove. At this point continue straight along the climb with the capitals of the Vai Crucis. The first capital is located at the intersection where the olive grove begins and the last one just before the sanctuary. It goes up among the olive trees on a paved ground. Here are the first houses.
In Laghel there is the sanctuary of Santa Maria di Laghel or also known as the church of Santa Maria Annunziata.
At the side of the sanctuary the path leading to the croce dei Colodri.
Some news.
In the middle of the valley of Laghel, only after abundant and close rains a small lake forms and then disappears. The stagnant waters are absorbed by a sinkhole and probably feed an underlying spring. This place, according to many geologists is the largest dolina in the Alps.
The doline is a closed basin, typical of the plains consisting of limestone rocks, formed following the dissolution of the calcium carbonate constituting the rocks. It’s typical of areas where superficial karst occurs.
