Descrizione

Palazzo dei Panni is located in Via Segantini in Arco. It was built at the end of 1600. It was owned by the family of the conti d’Arco.

This is recognizable by the coat of arms visible on the entrance portal.

The building is built by Giovambattista d’Arco. The idea of Giovambattista d’Arco was to make his palace with a garden and lemon house. It was his idea, not realized. Later the palace was inhabited by Count Emanuele d’Arco, man of culture and fine musician. At his death he bequeathed it to his servant.

Towards the end of the eighteenth century a wool mill was placed in the palace and from this the name ‘dei Panni’. The idea was the priest of Bolognano Giovanni Battista Marosi.

In the nineteenth century it was used for different purposes: from the theater, to the fire station, to kindergarten. At the beginning of the twentieth century it was purchased by the Institute of Providence and became a college. During the fascist era it was transformed into Palazzo del Littorio.
Later used as a school, since the nineties, after restoration, houses, the Civic Library and the Galleria Civica G. Segantini.
