San Pietro Palace

Before taking its name, Palazzo Marchetti was called Palazzo San Pietro. The name San Pietro derives from the fact that the palace in question is located near the Porta San Pietro. St. Peter was the name of the church of the same name that no longer exists. Probably in the fifteenth century because the fresco of the Madonna del Bambino in Via Ferrera is dated 1510.

The plan of the building is horseshoe shaped. There is a beautiful interior curtain of considerable size. The interior of Palazzo Marchetti houses frescoes with sacred subjects and not of various authors and eras. The frieze in the eaves dates back to different periods. There are sacred and profane subjects. For some the paintings are by Dionisio Bonmartini. There was also a tower demolished in 1844 as evidenced by an inscription in the west frieze. The chimneys are Venetian style, a peculiarity of the building.
