Descrizione
Porta San Marco erected during the Scaliger rule of Mastino II, as confirmed by the structures on the southern front of the tower. It was modified by the Venetians in the second half of the 15th century and finally, in 1536, the bishop of Trentino Bernardo Clesio had his coat of arms affixed to it. The last restoration was made by Luigi Antonio Baruffaldi in the second half of the nineteenth century.
The door has two dissimilar fronts, joined by an entrance hall with two cross vaults on which two openings open on the opposite walls. The facade facing north is wider: there are two entrances, where you can see the cavities that once housed the gears for the operation of the shutters. Above the door there are two levels with single lancet windows and battlements.
