Sasso dei Bimbi

In the surroundings of Torbole to the south-east, in the locality of Paradiso, lies near the lake a rocky boulder emerging from the water. For fishermen it is the Spigol del Maroc. All the locals call it the “Sasso dei Bambini”, the Sass dei popi, as they say in dialect.

The waters, slamming on the stone, emit like a rustle, that seems a whimper. The popular imagination indicated in this boulder the place where the wives went to collect newborns, called by that kind of cry. The stone, covered almost to the sight from the Gardesana, has been portrayed by the painter Zeno Diemer.
